I can run MX Linux from a flash drive but wondered if I can  reinstall Windows 10 or change boot settings to bypass the 20gb fast boot and use the main drive.  I'm guessing the 20 GB is corrupted. I can view my files from Linux.  Opening this computer is beyond my dexterity and tech skills so I would need to pay a tech an I don't want to spend the money on a 9 year old computer. If I can't , I will run Linux from the flash drive. Thank you

    OK. Follow these steps.

    (1) Go to this link to create a bootable Win10 installation USB media using Microsoft media creation tool. acerwiniso-10
    (2) Enter the BIOS menu with the F2 key on startup.
    (3) In the BIOS Main tab, make sure the F12 and D2D options are turned on.
    (4) In the BIOS Security tab, set a supervisor password.
    (5) Press F10 to save settings and exit. Shut the machine down.
    (6) Turn the machine back on and press the F2 key again to enter the BIOS menu with the supervisor password
    (7) Disable secure boot in the Security tab. Press F10 to save settings and exit. Shut the machine down again.
    (8) Insert the bootable Win10 installtion stick created in step #1.
    (9) Turn the machine back on and immediately press the F12 key
    (10) A boot menu should appear to allow you to boot from the Win10 installation USB stick and install Win10 on the WesternDigital HDD

Yes, I think we can do Win10 on the WesternDigital. Also think we can set you up dual boot with a polished Linux like Mint Cinnamon which is a lot better and more stable than Win10 in my opinion.

    (1) Do you have a normal DVD drive that you play or record CD and DVD discs?
    (2) What was the original factory-installed Windows version? Win10? Win8.1?

    >>>change boot settings to bypass the 20gb fast boot>>>

There is no BIOS evidence that this machine ever had a 20GB fast boot drive.  What did you mean by this?  Because the WesternDigital HDD  was the only boot drive.

This has a 20 gb ssd drive that enabled it to boot or wake faster. I believe it is corrupted or dead. I would prefer to keep the files. I would like to install and run the OS from the hard drive rather than a live usb

Sorry. I can't find an additional SSD socket for either a 2.5" SSD,  an mSATA SSD card or m,2 SSD card listed on the mainboard for your model in the specifications sheet. Only a single main 500GB boot HDD. Your BIOS Information and Boot tabs confirms that there in fact is, and should only be, a single WesternDigital 500GB boot HDD.

At any rate, unless the factory mainboard was changed to a newer mainboard with auxiliary 20GB boot SSD, we can still probably get the machine to boot again from the WesternDigital HDD if it's only file system corrupted and not a physical hardware disk failure/crash.

I did not see disk to disk entry. I  disabled secure boot and created a supervisor password. I was not able to boot from a windows 10 usb but was able to boot and install from a MX Linux USB. It seems to work but is very slow to boot. Thanks for your help

You may have to press CTRL+S to reveal the hidden D2D entry tin the BIOS Main tab. I suggest that you try to re-make another Win10 usb installation flash drive preferrably using another USB drive and the Microsoft media creation tool. It should boot. If still an issue use Rufus to create the Win10 installation USB from the Win10 iso. USB drive must be GPT partition scheme FAT32 format.
