Acer aspire 5 a515-51g 518r monitor shuts off

Hey guys. Uhm i just want an opinion i guess. Ive found this old post but idk now my problem is a bit different. https://community.acer.com/en/discussion/552210/i-have-a-acer-aspire-5-a515-51-58d3-the-screen-turns-off-when-i-move-the-laptop?breakffcache=1cd66
It kinda randomly shuts off with like a few vertical lines on the right side. If i close the lid and open it it comes back on. Now all of a sudden i have like idk how to describe it is like a "leak" or some pixels are white all the time. Could it get faulty and needs a replace or might just be the connector.
Dont really wanna open it on the back to check there, saw that video with the replacement of the monitor, could that connector be the issue. Sometimes does this when im just movin it sometimes is just random idk now. That "leak" concerns me kinda. Ill leave a link to a picture bellow but is kinda hard to see it. Also as im moving any window or scrolling down on yt for example some kind of a "bzzz" small one, comes from the right side on the back from where that connector is. Thanks in advance.

Yep sounds like video cable connector at the mainboard or base of the screen need to be reseated to help clean the contacts. Or possibly the cable itself needs to be replaced from wear and tear in the hinge area from opening and closing the lid too much.

You could try a power reset by shutting the machine off. Unplugging the charger. Then insert paperclip into reset pinhole on bottim for about a minute. Then plug charger back in. Turn machine on and immediately press F2 to enter BIOS menu. Press F9 to load BIOS defaults. Then press F10 to save defaults and exit. You could also try a full factory reset but doubt it'll resolve the issue

If these measures fail to fix the problem, nope, no other way of re-seating connectors or replacing the cable without opening the laptop. New cables are only about $20. But again nope, can't do anything without opening the laptop.

Suggest you take it to a local shop if you don't want to tackle the job for a repair estimate.

Little update, the "small leak" or whatever dissapeared after couple of minutes. I did had a problem with it back like half an year ago and i had to replace the bios chip so, maybe the guy touched the connector idk. Guess i`ll open it in the back and see what s up. Thanks for the answers guys. Have a good one.

I still havent opened it yet cuz lazyness i guess but ive noticed something. I ve set the "chose what power buttons do" .."when you close the lid" on "do nothing" and as it turns black im closing the lid to the point where it touches the idk.. keyboard i guess like is fully closed and reopen it. It just turns back on. Any other thoughts.

When you close the lid to do nothing, only the screen backlight turns off. The rest of the laptop stays awake. Normal.

    Hi @FrancescoFF,

Are you getting the display ?

What i mean, the display just shuts off randomly, like goes black, and as i close the lid and reopen it it turns back on again. Even with the "do nothing when closing it"
Like before i was just closing the lid waiting for it to go to sleep mode, reopen and it works again, now i discovered that with this "do nothing when you close the lid" feature does the same, like it doesnt need to go to sleep or shut off for it to display something again that s what im saying. I just have to close it till touches the keyboard. Hope you got what i mean now :dizzy:

When you close the lid to do nothing, the screen shuts off exactly like in sleep mode. Then when you open the lid again, the screen comes back on exactly like in sleep mode. The only difference is that the CPU and wifi are still on and draining the battery when the lid is closed to do nothing.

    I know this is been a while..so..
I've installed an ssd on it and with that, the back cover bein removed I've kinda moved the monitor plug that goes into the motherboard, couldnt do much cuz it was wraped with a black band and more stuff around it. Works so far, been like 2 or 3 weeks didnt happen once, couldve been the plug or maybe the old hdd i guess we ll never know
