Acer ED320QRS What might be the problem if my monitor turns on but does not display anything?

So I have an Acer ED320QRS gaming monitor and recently the power cord broke so I got a new one. I plug it in and it turns "on" and by that I mean the light turn on and the screen goes from black to slightly illuminated. The monitor displays NOTHING, not even a menu or channel selector. All I can do is turn it on and off. My computer recognizes it as another screen and all, and I have tried other ports on my computer as well as using an HDMI rather than the DP cord I use. Neither of them work. Can I fix this or should I send it to Acer to be fixed with the warranty? If I can fix it myself that would be nice because as a college student, I'd rather not have to spend around $60 on shipping fares to get a monitor fixed.

What did you purchase for the replacement adapter? If it's not providing the right power you could get symptoms like that.
