My brand new Acer V3-571G fails to boot from repair disc - it just hangs displaying "acer explore beyond limits".

but the response was to look at http://community.acer.com/t5/Community-KB/Windows-8-Recovery-options/ta-p/60811

which does not address repair disc problems. I duplicate the text of my query here:

My Acer V3-571G always fails to fully boot my Windows 8 repair CD.

On a brand new Acer V3-571G with Windows 8 pre-installed I first created a Windows recovery Drive onto a 32 GB USB stick and then ran Acer's Recovery Management to create a Drivers and Applications backup onto a DVD.

Finally I created the Windows repair disc on a CD using "recdisc.exe" as explained at "How to Create and Use a Recovery Drive or System Repair Disc in Windows 8" at www.howtogeek.com/131907/how-t.....windows-8/

I cannot get this CD to fully boot in my Acer. I've tried with two different CDs and retried three times using a CD-RW.

I tried a few boot orders: USB then HDD then CD; USB, then CD then HDD; and ; CD then USB then HDD.

I tried power up from cold, restart from Windows, spamming the F12 key. I also tried disabling Secure mode.

What happens is:

I place CD in tray and close it.

I shutdown completely or restart and then press the power button.

I spam the F12 key to get the Boot Manager screen, which displays 1. ATAPI CDROM 2. Windows Boot Manager (or vice versa if I change boot order)

I press 1 and hear the CD spin, after a while the screen displays "Press any key ..." to boot from CD or DVD. I press the enter key. (If I do not press any key within a few seconds a window appears stating "ATAPI CDROM ... boot failed")

The CD spins, and the display shows "acer explore beyond limits", but that's all it does even after several minutes.

The only keys that have any effect is control-alt-delete which just re-spins the CD and re-displays the acer message.

The CD contains three folders: boot, efi, sources and two files: bootmgr, bootmgr.efi .

Is there a special trick or key press sequence I need to use?

How can I troubleshoot the CD boot process itself?

I am able to boot from a Linux Live USB if I disable the secure boot in the UEFI, but I would like to ensure the repair disc actually works.

I have made and tested repair discs for older Windows operating systems without problem, but this is my first experience with WIndows 8 and the UEFI system.
