Hi there, I have just purchased the Acer Aspire 5 and although I love it overall the downside to it is that it is not very loud on certain videos / applications. I have searched the forums and it appears it is a common complaint, Just the few posts I've read through it's not come up with any resolution or the author has not let people know if they came up with a solution, took it back to the shop or what they did.  Does anyone have any suggestions for improving the sound on this computer? I have the Aspire A515-56. I assume all drivers are up to date as I've literally just purchased it. Thanks in advance.

Sorry. It's no your laptop. It's the videos & application. The only way around it is a separate amp or headphones. Laptop audio chips are designed to be limited to slightly more than pre-amp power outputs to conserve energy.

    AMYM,

    Try to do power drain,

    1. Turn OFF the unit.
    2. Unplug the charger.
    3. At the bottom there will be a tiny pin hole with battery sign close to it take a pin or paper clip and insert into it hold that button for 20-30 seconds. Then turn ON the unit and check.

The volume is too low, despite of updating all the drivers. And the weird sound on the edges of the screen if we touch. Its just been a month I bought this. The most bad thing happened is, unable to connect properly in one of my most important meetings on Zoom because of audio issues. I definitely do not recommend to buy this. Anyhow I am going to return it.

If you have a Microsoft account, other users have reported that the Microsoft store has a few free audio booster apps that have solved the low volume issue.

Consider buying a set of external speakers (either with a RCA jack or wireless (BT) that have a build-in amplifier (volume booster). Booster apps won't help you when playing online (Youtube, etc.) but the external speakers will let you boost the volume as loud as you want with whatever player you use.
