HI, have an Acer Aspire one 1-431  runnin celeron. Updated bios as of today, and attempted some flags on grub ACPI=off etcs, perhaps not loaded correctly? using in persistence mode. Which works on other machines.  After boot get ACPI errors ACPI bios error and efi memmap not enabled.
Thank you for your time

No, a plain vanilla 16GB USB is actually preferred for FAT32. Bigger capacities often cause issues.

Try using DD in terminal command prompt on another machine to make the live usb from the iso. Follow these steps.

umount /dev/sdX1 (X1 is usb partition)
    sudo dd if=kali.iso of=/dev/sdX bs=4M
    sync
    sudo eject /dev/sdX

The usb  has already successfully been made persistent prior, can use on other machines just fine in persistence. Have used on several the past year and it still works.
The issue is that regardless of the state, won’t boot into Kali on this machine.  Though mint, having the same issue still boots off usb. The acpi error pops on on mint as well...

If I boot in with the acpi flags it then has issues with audio

Can you post a screenshot of the USB's EFI/boot/ folder?

With the kali pendrive inserted, turn the machine on and immediately tap F2 to enter the BIOS menu & Boot tab. Is kali efi usb first in the boot order ahead of WinBootMgr and emmc?

In the kernel command line (e on the boot) if you add
    add_efi_memmap

Does it boot? May also need to remove the  quiet bit to increas verbosity

A bit further on the persistent option
no difference in failsafe mode however

Open the BIOS Security tab again with the stick inserted. Can you add this to or is it already listed in the BIOS trusted file memory?

It's past the point of secure boot I think as it's loading in things like WiFi drivers :)

That looks like a successful kernel boot now which leads me to thing it's something graphical , try adding single to the end of all the kernel options to see if you get a single user shell, and then type startx

Kali is always a pain on hardware, vm's are so much easier with it!

Thanks for your intel, I’ve used single before on other platforms but forgot what it’s for been so long. Got us a little further down but still locked up

This is where it locks on per security, which is understandable

I thought you kept it disabled? What happened?

Yeh that error is pre boot leave it off! I don't think Kali distributes a valid cert which you can import , what happened with single user on and secure boot off?

I'm not sure this Kali stick can boot in any mode on this machine without wiping the emmc flash. I still think making the Kali iso stick with DD might be worth a try as it might handle emmcs better. The other machines it works on are probably not emmcs. Also, if a Mint stick at least boots, it may have a better chance than Kali of being used between machines.
