Acer Nitro 5 AN515-53 - How well do the screens do against 70% isopropyl alcohol?

Hi all,

I know in general it's bad to use alcohol on LCD screens, but I used just a little bit on a microfiber cloth to clean some marks on my screen. It was only damp enough that the alcohol evaporated in seconds.

In general how good is ASUS at making LCD screens that are protected against alcohol?

Most of LCDs have the same protection so using IPA to clean is fine. But it is recommended that you should pour the IPA on the cloth, not on the screen. It could get inside the interior of the display and damage it.

Yes, I'm aware of how to clean my screen now but I wanted to know how BAD it would be if I used just a bit of alcohol on the cloth, I used a reasonably small amount.

I see, I think I will avoid using it in general though. I believe there is also risk of damaging the protective layer using corrosive substances like alcohol. Do you believe this is a real risk? I just use water and although it may sound daft just a dab of spit on the end of a cloth to wipe off stains and then cleaning it off with water.

@ShangWang it might damage the anti-glare coating if IPA is used too much. It's better to use a lcd cleaning liquid.

I like Screen Mom.  It cleans really well for me.  Just follow the directions.  And the bottle for 20 dollars lasts a really long time (well over a year for me).  I use on two different TV's, two phones, two tablets and a laptop often.
