Just wondering if it's safe to do this or if it affects the battery.

Is it also better if i leave plugged and charging while i use it? Any tips on taking care of the battery?

Once the laptop is completely charged you can unplug the cable and use it.
You can leave the charger plugged in ..   Gamers plug the charger while playing games for getting the maximum output..
Since it is a portable unit, if you are using it in a different room , car , garden - unplug the charger and use it
If you are not using the laptop for a longer period of time or if you are going for a vacation - please unplug the charger cable, shutdown the computer.

Yes. you can unplug the charger cable when the laptop is in sleep mode.   You can also plug it back if the battery is not completely charged.   You can  unplug and plug the charger cable even when the laptop is shutdown,   You can see a couple of lights on the side of laptop.

    Fully charged - blue
    orange - charging
    orange flashing - Battery low

You can also check the battery status on the lower right corner of screen when you are logged in.   It is a battery symbol right next to time on the lower right corner of the screen.   It will say whether it is plugged in,  completely charged and whether the charger is plugged  or unplugged on the laptop.

We are glad to help you on any of your battery related  queries.

    You are Welcome!
I have another question. Can i charge my laptop even when it's turned off? Will it affect battery life?

Also, how often should i use the laptop with just the battery power?

    What are 'cycles'?

@rdanielba my best advice here its to not leave it plugged in if its not on also its not good for the battery life span as the main system that triggers to not overcharge the battery only works better when its on and i wouldnt use sleep neither hibernate and disable fast boot resuming if its off and fully charged unplug it i would also recommend to always use it on AC at all times :)

    Oh i see.

I didn't know putting it on sleep is bad. I do that sometimes when i need to leave it for around 10-15minutes. I do that while it's plugged in, is that bad? Is the sleep mode bad?

@rdanielba for short times should be fine but i wouldnt use sleep anyways either just leave it on close the lid (but disable sleep on close lid) or shut it down sleep mode its buggy on all laptops this even since win xp MS never fixed it and they never will some cases the laptops wont even power on anymore or give a black screen which would require a battery powerdrain and bios setup defaults everytime thats the main reason i dont recommend it but for low spec and slow laptops/desktops without ssd i recommend hibernate as it takes too much time to load the OS and apps (a hibernate shortcut button can be created in the desktop to directly use it via powercfg command i have created many for many slow devices) but any new ones with ssd no need to its fast enough   :)
