Problem with headphone mic on acer Nitro 5

Hi, I'm having an issue with my recently purchased Nitro 5 laptop: Earlier today I was on the pc with my headphones plugged in, when a friend connected to his XBOX. When I joined his group I immediateiy noticed that the PC's mic array was the default audio in device, and that my headphone mic didn't show up at all. I than landed on the recording devices page, where it doesn't show up at all either, even though both the hidden and disabled devices are visible. I also noticed that when I plug in headphones (I tried with 2 different known good headphones), I get a prompt from the Realtek control panel thing to chose whether the device is a headset or a mic. If I choose headset, the headphones work but the mic isn't detected, but if I chose Microphone, the headphones no longer work but the mic isn't detected either.

This makes me think that my problem may be the result of a software "feature", or a software bug for this reason, as I know for a fact that my headphone mic works on both my XBOX and my phone. I have already tried reinstalling the realtek driver from my PC model's driver page, as well as updating the BIOS (it was available, and who knows, right?). I have also attemted updating the drivers via device manager, but it says they are already up to date

I have searched the internet and came across a single post in a Dell forum for exactly the same problem, but no solution was given, so I'm counting on the ACER communitly and tech support team to help me out, as the "solutions" I've come across basicly boil down to "allow windows to access your mic (which it has), and go into recording devices and enable the headset mic (which I gladly would if it showed up)"

Has anyone else had this problem? If so, have you found a sollution / fix / workaround? I am currently considering uninstalling all the realtek software, and letting windows install the generic audio drivers instead, to see what happens, though I am hesitant to do so because I got the PC 1 week ago, and don't want to have to remove official drivers in favour of generic ones.

If you guys have a solution, any help would be appreciated.

    Hi @Andre_95,

    For Drivers:

Try to enter the sn or snid under the link and install from the site.

    https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers

If not do a full factory reset.

    Hello,

First of all, I thank you for your response, but you are suggesting something I have aleady tried, and something I don't think will fix my problem for reasons I try to explain below

As I had already stated in my massive blob of text explaining the problem, I have already installed the drivers from the Acer website (searching for the exact model I own), which did exactly nothing to fix the issue. I would also like to reiterate that the Computer is, at the time of writing, just under 2 weeks old, so the installation of Windows is about as fresh as it could be (It's not old enough install that it wouldn't yet had much time to gather driver problems not present in the factory recovery Rom)

There has also been a slight developpment, to where I have since formatted my old comuter to give to my younger brother, and it now has the same problem as well, where the headset mic isn't detected at all (my old PC has connexant audio). This makes me think that if I can have this issue out of the box with a brand new PC with Realtek audio, and he can have the exact same issue on a freshly formatted PC with Connecant audio, than the issue may not be driver related as I had previously thought (or one heck of a coincidance), but rather a problem potentuially more related to Windows itself, or some setting needs to be toggled or some cmd prompt needs to be run. I vaguelly remember having this issue previously with my old PC, but I don't remember how I fixed it (though I know for a fact I didn't reinstall windows).

If anyone has any other suggestions, I will gladly try them out to see if they work, but would prefer not to perform a factory reset on a brand new PC that has been just recently set up
