[BIOS bug] Predator PH315-52 with BIOS v1.12 does not enter setup (pressing F2) after install Linux

Hi!

I had dual boot on my Predator PH315-52, using Windows 10 and Manjaro, for some years without a problem.

Some days ago I installed the latest version of Manjaro KDE 21.1.0.

After that, I cannnot enter BIOS setup anymore by pressing F2 after a restart or turn on the notebook.

Initially I think it was a problem specific to the new Manjaro but later I tested other distros: Garuda KDE Dr460nized, Debian 11 “bullseye” and Ubuntu 21.04.

Same problem with Garuda and Debian but with Ubuntu 21.04 the problem does not occur.

Maybe it’s some interaction between BIOS UEFI code and the contents of /boot/efi/EFI/ subfolders (created by each distribution).

Until now the “fix” it’s always the same: delete the distro created folder under /boot/efi/EFI/ (or simple drive_letter:\EFI on Windows).

It's time for release a new BIOS version for Predators PH315-52? How to take this information/request to Acer Support (officialy)?

  See more informations here: https://forum.manjaro.org/t/manjaro-kde-21-1-0-efi-problem-cannot-enter-bios-pressing-f2-nor-grub-remembers-last-booted-os-when-using-btrfs/78710

@peracchi its not the first time i have seen this issue around and you need to contact acer support directly and ask to report the issue directly to the devs team and provide as much info as you can so they would have the necessary data to try to go for a fix just bare in mind all predators and mostly all acer laptops were not officially made to support linux only windows so there will always be that issue there of the official support but you can always try good luck :)

Ps: to all users installing linux on any laptop/desktop or any other devices not officially supported its a do it at your own risk procedure as theres no support for it so be aware :)

I do not find an e-mail address or form to contact acer support directly.

At most I found a chat but it's only for notebooks still in warranty (not my case).

Do you have any link or e-mail address that I ca use?

You will find the contact details on the acer support website for your own country either its email/chat or phone also they dont have email address for contact usually you fill a form online or open an acer account register your model and submit a ticket but as i said linux its not officially supported so you most probably wont go far with it  but good luck :)
