Acer Travelmate TMP414 and Acer 10 port mini dock "always reconnect"

Hi all,

I have an Acer TMP414 laptop and add an Acer 10 port mini dock (HP.DSCAB.002). It connects to the laptop via a Type-C port. The network, the usb keyboard and mouse and the hdmi monitor go through this. The dock at irregular intervals seems to be dropped by the laptop's type c port. In this case, the network card (which is in the dock) disappears for a moment. You can also hear the sound of the usb connection. The image is retained through the HDMI port and is not affected. The metal housing on the dock is pretty hot, though I don’t think that would be a problem. I tried another with the same dock, same bug. Finally, I also tried both docking devices on an Acer Swift 3 (SF314), this is where the error comes from. I wouldn’t think brand new laptops would be faulty, freshly installed, with the latest drivers. But is it also very interesting that both docks would be faulty? Or is this Acer 10 port mini dock (HP.DSCAB.002) such a low budget, weak product?

Likely the connection is set to allow Windows to turn off to save energy. In Device Manager look at the properties for an option to keep it powered at all times.

Hi, I have exactly the same symptoms and fail to find a solution for more than half a year now :-(

My dock is similarto the one describes abote:

    • "Acer 12in1 USB-C dongle / Mini Dock" (HP.DSCAB.009), and
    • I use it on a an Acer Spin SP513-55N (11th Gen Intel Core i7-1165G7)
    • running a 64-bit version of Windows 10 Pro (release 22H2).

Acer has not published an BIOS/Firmware/Driver Updates for its Spin SP513-55N for more than a year.

And for the Dock, I can find no dedicated driver; Windows claims to use a

    • "Realtek USB GbE Family Controller #3" driver dated 2021-09-14 with driver version 10.48.914.2021)

Does anyone have tips how to end the LAN connection breaks (approx. every 2 .. 10 min)?
Alternatively, I would be happy to get advice on how to diagnose the problem (I have wireshark running, but I am a novice with this tool).

    Kind regards,

    Thomas

I'd look at the properties of that Ethernet port and verify Windows isn't allowing it to shut down in order to save power.
