Everything was working fine until I decided to update my audio driver because of a light buzzing sound when I'm playing games, I went to realtek website and downloaded the 64 bit version after that I installed it. This is when the problem started Ive tried going into device manager but there is no audio, video and game controller option Ive tried adding legacy hardware but the laptop crashes when ever I do that. I've also tried the driver which is provided in acer website and installed it but still I cannot find anything in input or output devices in my sound settings. Ive lost all sounds in my laptop PLEASE HELP!

Yeah, we pretty much need to know what laptop you have before we can start diagnosis. :) Fire up Device Manager and let us know what's listed and Audio Inputs and Outputs, and in Sound, Video and Game Controllers.

"I cannot find anything in input or output devices in my sound settings. Ive lost all sounds in my laptop"

I have the same problem here!
I think this happened after the last windows update!

Also, "No Output Audio Device is installed" is displayed next to the speaker icon with a cross.

    Acer laptop info here:
    Windows 10 x64, Acer Aspire A515-54, Model N18Q13
All Intel drivers are ok as determined by the excellent Intel driver support assistant.

Factory reset via Acer care center did not fix it!
I think windows 10's "Factory reset" is not a real "Factory reset" as
it automatically incorporated new windows security fixes, which I think are breaking the build-in Realtek audio.

The funny thing is that I can sometimes get the audio to work in the middle of re-installing the
Realtek sound driver downloaded from the Acer support site! Yes, it will play full sound during the middle
of the install as long as I do not reboot. The speaker is dead again after reboot!  This is quite repeatable and it looks like the
    audio hardware is not damaged.
It appears that somehow the Realtek driver is not working well with the new Windows 10 update. (August 2021)

In addition, an external USB audio adapter would work and a BlueTooth speaker would also work.

    Please help!

    Thank you so much!

@SUGARMAG, if you are having an issue perhaps you should start a thread and ask a question. This thread is several years old…
