GX792 stuck in a 15 second loop at 'power on'

Hi all,

I have an issue with my GX792 predator laptop.

I did a Windows reset of the laptop after some software issues and it completed fine. I was then in the process of reinstalling drivers etc for windows - downloading/installing and restarting through the auto windows 'check for drivers' function.

Whilst doing this and during a restart, it froze saying 'windows is updating drivers'. I left it for over an hour no change. It had crashed.

Eventually I had to turn the laptop off.

Upon restarting, it turns on, the lights on the keyboard come on but nothing happens on the screen. I cannot get into the BIOS and windows does not load. After about 15 seconds, it switches itself off. I've tried a bunch of times, power plugged in, power unplugged, ive tried putting a paperclip into the battery reset hole, nothing helps.

I can only assume that in amongst the updates was a firmware update and its somehow stuffed it.

Are there any key combinations that I can try?
Is it possible to reset or flash the bios?
Any other suggestions?

Thanks for any help, much appreciated.

    Hi atseis,

    # Try to get the BIOS page.
    1. Turn OFF the unit.
    2. Press and hold the F2 key and turn on the unit.
    3. You will be in setup utility page.
    4. Once you got the screen release the F2 key.
    5. Tap on F9 key and hit enter key without changing the option.
    6. Tap on F10 key and hit enter key without changing the option.
    7. Your unit will restart by itself.

Check this T/S and post the result.

Hi Easwar - I did step 1, I did step 2. Holding the F2 key whilst starting up the laptop did nothing. It will not enter the BIOS....It just turned itself off and the loop continues after turning back on...

    Thanks for your help :)
