Hi,

I have an Nitro 5 Gaming Laptop 2020 Version with Ryzen 7 4800H/256ssd/1tbhdd. Currently on of the m.2 slots for ssd upgrade is empty and i'm thinking to expand my storage by adding in 1tb ssd more.
Can someone suggest if there is some limit on total storage capacity that can be handled by the MOBO?
I have seen various usages of storage upto 2tb on youtube and other sources. Not sure if the Laptop supports and can handle 2.25TB of storage (1tb hdd + 256sd + 1tb ssd(Thinking to buy this)).

Open to suggestions!!!!

First "gagndeepp" is your laptop the Nitro 5 AN515-44? As you haven’t given us the exact model number. If it is then the AN515-44 has a storage drive provisions for 1x 2.5” SATA-3 6.0 Gbits/s drive of either a spinner HDD or a 2.5” 6.0 Gbits/s SSD and for 2x M.2 PCIe Gen.3x4 8Gbits/s hard drives. The capacities and total capacities of all these drives are only restricted individually by their formatting which is governed by their type of formatting, look at this guide “Difference Between GPT and MBR When Partitioning a Drive?”.  The Acer listed drives (this does not mean that other drives are not better) for the Nitro 5 AN515-44 laptop for their tested performance specs are from the following drives:

    Spinner HDD SATA-3 6.0Gbits/s at 5400rpm:

    1. TOSHIBA MQ01ABF050

    2. WDC WD10SPZX - 21Z10T

    3. TOSHIBA MQ04ABF100

    4. WD WD20SPZX - 21UA7T0

    M.2 PCIe Gen.3x4 8Gbits/s SSD’s:

    1. 256Gb - WDC N8SP4 SDBQNTY-256G - 1014

    2. 256GB - WDC N8SP4 SDBPNPZ-256G - 1014

    3. 256GB - HYNIX N8SP4 HFM256GDJTNI - 82A0A

    4. 512GB - WDC N8SP4 SDBQNTY-512G – 1014

    5. 512GB - WDC N8SP4 SDBPNPZ-512G – 1014

    6. 512GB - HYNIX N8SP4 HFM512GDJTNI - 82A0A

    7. 1TB - WDC N8SP4 SDBPNPZ-1T00-1014

    8. 1TB - WDC N8SP4 SDBQNTY-1T00-1014

    Hi @StevenGen

    Many thanks for your response!
Yes my Laptop product code is Nitro 5 AN515-44 as seen in the Acer Control Centre application!

And yes what you've mentioned is exactly right. Currently the 2.5SATA drive has 1tb Seagate hdd installed and one of the 2x M.2 SSD slots have one 256gb WDC SSD installed. The other M.2 Slot is empty and I wanted to upgrade it with 1tb SSD, To achieve a total of more than 2tb storage.

And I could confirm from diskpart.mgmt as well that the current partition table structure for my PC is GPT, So I believe we do not have any bar on total capacity, just the individual capacity -- as mentioned by you. Thus allowing to upgrade the total storage capacity above 2tb.

And as Suggested, Might go for one of the listed drives by you if they are available in my nearby locality here in India.
