Can I add an SSD and HDD to my Nitro AN515-55?

Hello, I saw on the box from my laptop that it has space for an SSD and an HDD, is this possible to my model of laptop? If so would I have to download Windows on it again? And also, which SSD would fit in it? For now I just want to get an SSD as I had help from my friend and am looking for hopefully 1 TB, is there a SSD that can fit in it that has this storage?

bsach78 in your Nitro AN515-55 you can have allot of combinations like and the best is with 2x SSD drives 1x M.2 and 1x 2.5” SSD drive or a combo of 1x spinner HDD e.g. 1x M.2 PCIe NVMe 3.0 x4 as your boot drive and 1x 2.5” SATA-3 6GB/sec type SSD as a slave drive and/or a more complex and quicker setup of the 2x SSD’s drives in a Raid, it’s up to you?

The best IMO and recommended by Acer SSD’s and either 2.5” spinner HDD SD drives but you can use similar drives from other manufacturers at the same specs are as follows:

    • 2.5” Spinner HDD SATA-3 - 1TB TOSHIBA MQ04ABF100 at Media data transfer rate 1733 Mbit/s (max.)
    • 2.5” SSD drive SATA-3 – Samsung 860 PRO SATA III or SSD 870 EVO SATA III or the 860 EVO SATA III
    • M.2 PCIe NVMe 3.0 x4 – 1TB Samsung 980 PCIe 3.0 NVMe at Fast data transfer rate (Gbits / sec, max) 3,500 MB/s. Btw the Samsung drives M.2 or 2.5” SSD’s are IMO the best and most reliable drives to use, I’ve used them for many years without any problems and/or faults of losing data.

As far as your OS and Windows-10, use the M.2 PCIe NVMe 3.0 x4 as your boot drive always as you can easily clone your existing Win-10 operating system with a good cloning software like the “Macrium Reflect v7” but and if you use a Samsung SSD’s drives they have their own cloning software called "Data Migration" and their excellent tuning software called "Samsung Magician" that you can use. Good luck and hope this helps you out.

Note: for all SSD drive to operate at their max performance and for their best durability within Windows OS's always enable the TRIM command within windows.

    Hi bsach78,

    The Nitro 5, in any case, comes with either a lone 2.5-inch 1TB hard-disk drive (HDD), a 2.5-inch 1TB HDD coupled with a 128GB M. 2 SSD, or a lone 256 GB M. 2 SSD with no extra HDD
