Helios 300 A/C Jack Disconnected

Two-year-old Helios 300 here. The laptop spontaneously disconnected from power during a gaming session last night.

I have already tried another power adapter. I have already tried another wall outlet. I have already disconnected the internal battery, power reset the machine, and reconnected the battery.

I created a power report through Powershell, and nothing seems out-of-the-ordinary on it. The power report is sitting on the laptop's drive, and the laptop is nearly out of power.

Windows Device Manager tells me the A/C Jack device is disconnected (code 45). I tried uninstalling the device driver, but Windows did not detect and reinstall it upon reboot.

I am now convinced that the problem lies somewhere in relation to the jack. The jack status light does not come on when the adapter is plugged in. I've looked over the cable connecting the jack to the motherboard and everything looks normal. I've tried jiggling the adapter cable while plugged in, and nothing happened.

Unfortunately, any information I find online has nothing to do with this problem. Any help or pointers would be greatly appreciated. This is a great machine and I want to save it.

I had similar issue, when I plug power cable bad angle, it overheated and stop charging. after all calm down it work again.

for your problem it can be that jack connector on motherboard died (unfortunately in happens) and windows will not give you any warning about it.
can you make a photo of that motherboard connector ?

Here it is from two angles. Sorry that they're a bit fuzzy.

I've got a much better picture now after I've had a chance to take the thing apart again.

I'm looking into acquiring a replacement part; I feel like I've exhausted software options.

Did you try to disconnect the it and clean connectors.
another, try to disconnect all disks, all usb devices, everything, and see if it charging, I think you can even disconnect battery and try to see if it starting.
(you can even disconnect the fans)
if you remove all ram memory, then monitor will not show, but you will see if notebook  starting.
the jac seems to be ok by the pictures, just be carefuller by all the steps.

I managed to resolve the issue some hours ago.

Somehow, removing the protective plate over the jack part (as seen in the final picture) and screwing it back on again has resolved the charging issue. I wish I'd tried that the first three times I opened the computer.

Interestingly, I can only get it to charge with the non-original cable. I'm speculating, but I wonder if my power cable's transformer died in such a way that triggered some form of safety feature in the PC? That's the only reason I can think of that would allow me to solve the problem by simply removing and replacing the protective plate over the jack part. Perhaps removing the cover caused the computer to think the part has been "serviced"? Does that sound realistic at all?

Good job for resolving your issue.

it's good question for electrical engineer, I hope some of them present at our community, other way you can ask that question in some electrical forums.
