Purchased the laptop in May.
Left running yesterday afternoon in North facing room with power connected, normally goes in to suspended/hibernation mode. Failed to restart approx 3 hrs later.
Fan running at full speed all night but refused to fire up this morning.
Disconnected power, placed on cold surface and 30 min later fan still running, held power button down for approx 10sec & fan switched off. Would not power up. Left 15 min tried again and powered up as normal.
Although room was warm, did not feel it was excessive.
Is this a sign of problem within system or just put it down to weather/glitch?
This is my 3rd Acer, not had this issued before.

If it failed to restart, how did its fan run at full speed?

    Hi DRC126,

    Try to do power drain,

    1. Turn OFF the unit.
    2. Unplug the charger.
    3. At the bottom there will be a tiny pin hole with battery sign close to it take a pin or paper clip and insert into it hold that button for 20-30 seconds. Then turn ON the unit and check.

Hi Easwar, thank you for the advice, as all running fine and needed to work all day have not taken any further action.  Will do the power drain anyway later this evening and hope all returns to normal.  Thanks again

OK. There is a BIOS firmware fix (v1.12) at this link for the black screen issue. But you must first try to  get it up and running again with @Easwar reset suggestion. After the reset, plug the charger back in but don't try to immediately turn it on until the battery charge LED turns from solid orange to solid blue. Try this procedure at least 3 times to try to get the screen again so you can apply the firmware fix from inside the Windows environment

Good policy. But you have a serious black screen problem that warrants running the firmware update that is described to fix this issue. Please unzip and run the exectuble from inside the Windows environment. Battery should be fully charged and charger plugged in before running the update.
