    @wlterrace that process is often a fix for when the battery gets confused. The battery holds some data internally and that can get corrupted. What you did (and usually holding the power button for a while, then waiting before the reconnect is required) resets the internal battery data. Acer seems to think that the corrupted battery data issue is a Windows thing, so they don't put battery reset buttons on the Chromebooks, but as you have seen it sometimes happens even with the ChromeOS.

    Note that your solution wouldn't have worked at all for the person who started this thread, their issue was a bad drive...
