Quality problem with XB272 monitor

The XB272 series monitors apparently have a quality problem, causing them to die suddenly after about 25 months of daily operation.
This is caused by the driver chip Novatek NT65820CH-C025DA which is part of the LCD panel.
It short-circuits the main voltage to ground, disabling the entire panel and damaging the power supply in the process.
After a replacement offer by Acer turned out to be uneconomic, a companion electronics technician examined the board more closely.
I'm assuming a quality problem of that specific chip / manufacturing because the damage occurred twice consecutively.
Hopefully, this information will find it's way to Acers product / quality management.
