    Hi,

My Laptop had become frustrating to use recently because of the countless times its keyboard had become faulty inspite of the numerous times I had it repaired. Since ACER laptops comes with power button in its keyboard, disabling the keyboard was not an option, until I found that WOL (Wake on LAN) feature can be used to bypass this problem and get your device running.

I followed many tutorials in YouTube as well as google to setup WOL. Such as:
-> Setup WAKE ON LAN to enabled in BIOS Setting (F2 Key in startup).
-> Followed by changing Network Adapter Settings in Device Manager to allow Magic Packet feature.

But still when I put in hibernate or shutdown mode (No problem of WOL in Sleep mode) the LAN device (Router) does not receive power from ethernet cable.
Then I learned about S5 and S4 states in Windows 10 and how it is different from Windows 7 and followed the steps to turn off S4 state(Disable Fast Starup) in Windows 10. But still no luck.

Then I changed the registry settings for S5WAKEONLAN and PowerDownPll. Still no change, the LAN won't power up its ethernet port.

After countless other failed endeavors such as; disabling Green Ethernet and also Efficient Ethernet; Disable NetBIOS etc, I finally found the solution.

So what you have to do is:

    1) Follow this youtube video:
    https://youtu.be/4IiiOprQWIg

    2) Enter into BIOS Setting (F2 in startup) and enable WAKE ON LAN

    3) If WOL feature works for your system works after this, then good for you, otherwise do the following:
Go to ACER Drivers Update website (https://www.acer.com/ac/en/IN/content/drivers) and enter the SNID/SN number for your device.
Then under DRIVERS --> LAN DRIVER
Install it. This will update your LAN driver. This update started powering Ethernet Adapter even under hibernate or shutdown mode.

Now try the WOL again, it worked for me.

If issues still persist, follow this, this is by far the best source I have come across regarding this issue:
