Acer Nitro 5 AN515-55-73GS laptop - Can I output 144hz to Acer Nitro XZ342CK ? (Via HDMI or adapter)

I bought an Acer Nitro 5 (AN515-55-73GS) about a month ago and I absolutely love it, especially with the upgraded RAM to 32gb and a couple extra hard drives (1tb SSD and 2tb HDD).

Now I'd like to get the best ultra-wide monitor possible for about $600 or less.

The Acer Nitro XZ342CK, 34 inch, 1ms, 144hz, caught my eye.

But can I output 144hz to this monitor via the HDMI port on my Nitro 5? I only ask because I've read that the HDMI output only supports 100hz, and to get 144hz I'd probably have to use the Display Port but the laptop doesn't have that output!

If the display port is required, can I just use an adapter from the HDMI output to the display port on the monitor? Or maybe use a USB-C hub that has a display port output? (I currently have one that has 6 USB 3.0 ports, ethernet, and an HDMI output, so I'm assuming I could find one with Display Port?)

TL;DR Any help would be apprecaited, I just want an ultra wide monitor with the highest refresh rate possible, which I'm assuming is 144hz that the monitor supports, I just don't know how high the HDMI port can go...

Thanks!!!

I dont belive the USB c port is plugged into the display as it doesnt support Display port Alt mode, which would also prevent a dock from working.

I usually refer to this guide ( https://glenwing.github.io/adapters/?output=HDMI ) to get a rough idea on what speed would be possible, your 1650 will be HDMI 2.0 so the max speed over it would be at best 100hz, it physically wouldnt be able to do faster :(

You could try dropping the colour range / sampling down but that would massivly reduce the quality of the display.

I'd be pretty chuffed with pushing 100hz though!

That's what I unfortunately suspected... So I guess it doesn't matter whether I adapt to DP or just use HDMI, it'll be 100hz regardless!

I guess I can buy a monitor accordingly, however I think I may still go with the Acer Nitro monitor, as I like the specs, the 1ms response, and the aesthetics of the monitor as well...

Thanks for the info!! At least I don't have to worry about trying to get 144hz on an external monitor!
