Hi all.

First of all English is not my native language so sorry in advance. I got the P03-620 with an Intel core I7 10700 and a RTX 2060.When i first got my pc the temps(both cpu and gpu) would reach 85 - 90 degrees while gaming. I upgraded the stock case fans with noctua 92 mm case fans. And I also upgraded the cpu cooler to a Noctua L9×65. At first glance I was happy because you could deffinetly see a improvement. The cpu temps would only reach arround 70 but gpu temps were still arround 80 - 85. One day I decided to play Warzone with this setup and both my CPU and GPU would reach arround 90. So I decided to do some more improving.

I finally upgraded the cpu cooler to a NH-U9s Chromax Black. I also figured that airflow in this case is pretty bad. The original intake fan is mostly blowing against my HDD so i decided to add an other intake fan. Above the original intake fan there is a spot to add a 80 mm fan. I used an 80mm holesaw and mounted a 80mm Noctua case fan. I added a magnetic dustfilter on the inside.

I played Warzone again at the same settings. And after an hour of playing CPU temps Did not go above 60 degrees and GPU Arround 80 - 82. When I run MSI Afterburner  I get as low as 78 degrees.

So overall I am happy with these upgrades. I am thinking about adding a top fan to see if I can improve it further. Warzone generally runs pretty hot so most other games that i play wont even reach nearly as high enough.

Look NiSimo, with cooling the CPU can handle temps of above 90c and dry cooling but, the GPU is the weaker component of any setup. GPU’s are the most expensive part of any computer setup and are prone to extensive heat especially with gaming rigs where the GPU’s mostly fail. All high end GPU’s and the RTX 2060 is not one of them (but its up to you if you want to water cool your RTX 2060?) as keeping your RTX 2060 at a lower temps especially with modern games where they inflict some tremendous temperatures onto your GPU card that destroys many  GPU cards, especially circuitry components and the actual motherboards material, they virtually burn them out as circuitry components get so hot that they burn themselves out and the motherboard. What I would strongly suggest is that you water cool your GPU and never ever use a liquid metal paste as they don’t work and are a very dangerous paste that destroy and cause most of the GPU’s shortening of components and failures, as the paste leaks outside the GPU and heatsink when applied and the metal paste gets into the surrounding GPU circuitry and shorts them out and makes your card inoperable!

Yes I know that, the theory is that a “low tier GPU’s don't usually get liquid cooling”  from the manufacturers or from water cooling manufacturers because of their lower power draw and their high cost but there is one cooling , see this link for installation >> "RTX 2060 + KRAKEN NZXT G12" or go to this link for the "Kraken G12" web site that this water cooling setup will work for your RTX 2060 GPU and its not expensive also, the Kraken G12 has been successfully applied to many RTX 2060 with no issues so it’s up to you if you want to apply it. Good luck and hope this helps you out if you want to protect the modern GPU’s costly investment!

OP, good job with the mods! The original airflow is terrible indeed. You did well.

It is true that CPUs can handle higher temps, but this means louder fan noise, and if the temp goes too high, performance will take a hit as CPU is being throttled. In my opinion 90C is way too high for a CPU under stress. I'd be happy with mid-70s at most.

As for water cooling, that will be hard. The case is so small and and there is almost no empty space inside. You would almost have to insert the radiator on the side panel or be more experimental.

OP, you could try repasting the GPU and check that the thermal pads between memory chips and other components have good connection with the heatsink. Maybe even add few under the backplate?

Thank you! Yeah I'm going to repaste the gpu in a few days. Hope i can knock some degrees off. Cpu temps are great now.

    Tinkerer

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but RTX 2060 running at 80-82 degrees is fine. I have this same PC and played Warzone heavily for a while there and I never seen the temps go over 83 degrees, no new fans or anything it;s still pure stock. Never seen the CPU get close to 90 either, so I assume it's likely just the factory skimped on the thermal paste application on your system.

You are correct. The GPU temp is good enough. But some of us like to tinker with things and make them even better! ^^

I am more comfortable with temps being max 80. I can now play Red dead Redemption online with cpu not going above 55 and cpu stays arround 75. And the stock case fans are pretty noisy too. So altough I have more fans now I have less noise than before.

I found out how to get my gpu temps while playing triple A games to 68c/72c I undervolt ever so alightly -50mhz and priotitize temp limits to 74c, also turn on custom fan speeds and leave it on what msi afterburner stocks it at
I get 3+ more fps on average this way because nvidia cards are technically thermal throttling at 80c so getting them 10c below that with a slight undervolt is more efficient.

Very good job with the mods OP, i am thinking of doing some of these mods myself.

I know this post is almost 2 years old but could you send some more detailed pictures of the added front fan if you still have the pc?
