Hi everyone, I'm having problem with my Nitro 5 and I need help. My screen suddenly went black almost ten mins after turning it on, I wasn't doing anything that time. Laptop turns on, fans are working, keyboard backlight come on but screen stay complete black. I already tried these solutions but none of them worked for me;

- I hard reset it while holding power button.
- I disconnect the battery and plugged it back.
- I disconnected bios battery and plugged it back.
- I tried external display through HDMI.
- I tried to turned it on only AC power when all batteries were disconnected.
- I removed power cable while it's running and connected it back.
- I removed RAM and SSD, tried to turn it on w/wo batteries are connected.
- I even disconnected all flex cables from the motherboard and tried to turn it on.
- I tried all "fn+1...fn+9" combinations but it doesn't event open BIOS or anything.

However I was able to see something on the screen after pushing and "D F G X C" keys with little bit pressure while pushing power button. Acer logo came, it went to recovery mode then screen suddenly went black again.

My laptop is almost two years old it's running on Windows 10 and I use it to edit Excel files and do some designs on Illustrator. I don't do heavy thing on it and it doesn't even get hot.

I'm extremely frustrated with this situation. Do you guys have any idea what causes this problem and how can I fix it?

    Suffering from the very same issue except no display even after pressing the DFGXC keys either. Tried every step mentioned above. I’m getting windows turn on sounds and power plug in plug out sounds also, but absolutely no display at all. Please help!

    Check the black screen if there is a slight image in the background? Look closely at your screen as this is the "LED Screens Backlight" that one or a few of its LED's globes has burned out and the screen goes black as it needs all LED globes to work for the screen to show a clear image. The only way and the easiest fix is to replace the screen with a new one or fix these globes to work again that has to done by an experienced technician that has all the appropriate tols.

    Note, this is a common fault that happens with LED screens in laptops and especially with LED TV's. Have a look at this guide “Laptop backlight circuit - Diagnose and repair” by "Electronics repair school"  and a guy called Sorin who is an expert in how fix a backlight problem as it needs expertise and the right tools to fix.
