Managed to add a 2tb ssd ok but I'm struggling to upgrade the RAM from 8gb to either 16 or 32. First question is why do these sticks look different as I presume they are both 4gb. And secondly which replacements do I go for, all I know is they are ddr4. Thanks.

The RAM sticks look different because you are looking  at them for two different sides.

Maximum RAM is 32 GB , so it will be 2 x 16 GB.

    You can put 2 sticks of 16GB 1.2 V DDR4 SO-DIMM of 3200 MHz in there.

Before installing the RAM sticks, be sure to unplug the power connector first.

You are welcome ! Personally I upgrade RAM capacity to the point I think that is adequate for me ( 8 GB is enough already, but I get 2 x 8 GB just to make sure the dual channel performance is enabled). Some people like to upgrade RAM to the maximum allowed, up to you.

Is 3200MHZ recommended. Was looking at some that are 2400MHZ. Didn't know if there are any major differences or if it is compatible?

From the picture, the original RAM 4GB sticks are 3200 MHz ( that 3200AA). Have you checked Task Manger memory tab what speed you have originally?  I bet it is probably 3200 MHz. If you use 2400 MHz RAM, it is like a downgrade but still can be used. Price for the RAM sticks will be higher for faster sticks.
Also, I have seen Youtube videos that people with with your laptop model upgrading with 3200 MHz sticks too.

For economic reasons I do not overbuy RAM capacity, knowing that through the lifetime of my PC chances are I'll never get to use the maximum RAM capacity.

Who knows one decade from now whether DDR4 RAM sticks will become obsolete, just like DDR2 RAM 12-15 years ago.

Yes you are right, I have checked under task manager memory tab and that is the speed. Sorry, I am new to PC's! I have ordered 2x8GB HyperxX impacts under the specifications you gave me. Think 16GB will be more than enough as a casual gamer and a bit of video editing. Paid about £125 for them. Once again thanks for your support.
