Is it possible to connect Nitro AN515-52 to external monitor with 144HZ?

So I have a Nitro AN515-52 i7-8750H. I was wondering if I can connect the laptop to an external 144 Hz monitor, using the HDMI port?

I believe I have HDMI version 2.0, but I am not sure. Can someone please confirm?  If that's the case, it should be possible right? As long as I use the appropiate HDMI cable and a monitor with HDMI 2.0 port ofc.

Answers are much appreciated!

Great thanks for that :) So that means the HDMI port is controlled by the Nvidia GPU and not the Intel GPU so its good news!

Sometimes the HDMI is connected to the intel thing and when it is it looks like this ( https://www.reddit.com/r/MSILaptops/comments/fhpokb/any_reason_why_the_physx_configuration_shows_my/ ) so i wanted to make sure that wasnt the case

I dont really know of a good way of checking what HDMI version the laptops have (apart from the spec sheets which i cant see!), but its usually the same as what the default one on the GPU is which i get from Wikipedia or for intel the intel spec sheets :)

Is it a 1650 In it? As long as the monitor Res is 1080 or 1440p without hdr it should support it . I think both could support 10 bit color but not 100% sure

It wouldn't support freesync or gsync though :)

I have Geforce GTX 1060. You think that wil do?

I am only interested in 1080p screens, so that should not be a problem. I have never heard of hdr before, is it normal for 144 Hz gaming monitors to support 1080 without hdr?

    Thanks!

Hdr is high dynamic range, it increases the 'pop' of the colours but needs more data to do it :) .

One thing to check as it's a different model than I thought, If you look in the Nvidia control panel does it show the hdmi port under the Physx settings? This tells us is it's the CPU or the GPU which controls the hdmi port

1080p should be absolutely fine at 144 Hz, hdmi 1.4 even supported it! (Non standard but it still works)

When I click on Set PhysX configuration, I get this:

    What does this mean?

And how can we know if my laptop supports HDMI1.4? Is this the norm for laptops from 2018/19?

Thanks for all the help, you are a life saver :)

Do you think there will be a problem getting 144 HZ in my situation, with a monitor using HDR tech?
