Computer won't power on - Acer Predator 17 g5-793-72au

My wife's computer will not power on. The power button will light up, and the LED on the right of the trackpad will light up, but that's it. I've tried doing a battery reset via the pinhole, waiting, and then charging the battery back to full, to no avail. Any help or insight would be incredibly helpful.

    Firstly, power problems can be from numerous sources and could also be faulty at either your charger which the OEM is either the "Adapter DELTA 180W 19.5V 5.1x7.4x11 ADP-180MB KC LF Black with acer logo - acer part#: KP.18001.003 or the "Adapter DELTA 180W 19V 5.1x7.4x11 ADP-180MB KC LF black with acer logo - acer part #: KP.18001.001 or it could be from your battery which could be either the "Battery SANYO AS15B Li-Ion 4S2P SANYO 8 cell 6000mAh Main COMMON - acer part #: KT.00803.004 or the "Battery SANYO AS15B Li-Ion 4S2P SANYO 8 cell 6000mAh Main COMMON (KT.00803.004 add BIS logo) - acer part #: KT.00803.005" or it could be a short or a burned out component at the motherboard connection by the DC-IN cable and it could also be internally with components such as a surface mount ceramic capacitors or a Mosfet chip etc etc that are burned out.

    To do all the above you need expertise and if you don't? Then take your laptop to either an Acer service centre in your area or an experienced technician that can fix your problem, don't try to do anything to your laptop especially circuitry related as you will damage the motherboard as all these fixes need specialist micro soldering and specialised tools. 

    To do a basic check, open the back and inspect the DC-IN cable and its plug to motherboard that supplies the power and also inspect the condition of the battery physically and if its not swollen and its making good connection to the motherboard, disconnect and reconnect the battery and power on the laptop and see if it fixes your problem?

    For more specialised on the spot diagnosis's (Note: if you don't know how to do this then don't do try it) inspect the voltage/amps with a multimeter to the laptop components. Do this for the charger also that has to output 19.5Volts at 9.23Amps and the battery that its at 14.8Volts and inspect the ceramic capacitors and Mosfet chip that usually burns out and restricts power and causes power related problems, so as you can see there are many factors. Btw, if you could get into Windows then you can use the cmd prompt and do a C:\battery-report.html so that you can find out all about the battery condition. That's it, hope this is some sort of help to you and all that are having power problems as its not just a simple thing.

    # Try to get the BIOS page.
    1. Turn OFF the unit.
    ​2. Press and hold the F2 key and turn on the unit. 
    3. You will be in setup utility page. 
    4. Once you got the screen release the F2 key.
    5. Tap on F9 key and hit enter key without changing the option.
    6. Tap on F10 key and hit enter key without changing the option.
    7. Your unit will restart by itself. 

    Check this T/S and post the result. ​

    Thank you for your response, Steven. I'm familiar with desktops, sadly not so much with laptops. I've tried accessing the motherboard on my wife's laptop but it's a pain in the rear end to get to it on the Predators, wasn't comfortable opening it up so I've aborted that plan. Going to look around and find a repair shop to take it to. Appreciate the response!

    Sadly not able to access the BIOS, can't get it powered on, let alone wanting to boot. Appreciate the idea though.

    Hold the power button for 1 Hr and it should fix itself thanks
