How do I regain access to my Acer account now, please? - Chromebook 15, CB5-571

On 23rd March 2021 or just before my Acer Chromebook crashed and I've been unable to sign into my Chromebook Account ever since, which also means I can't access my permanent hard disk since then.  When I try to sign into my Chromebook I go through two-step Google ID verification but my device freezes at the very end, then eventually resets back to the main switch-on screen.

I can still access my Google Account in guest mode however, but this will never give me access to my permanent hard disk.

Google says my device will stop receiving Chrome OS updates from June 2021, i.e. from today onward, removing any hope of an OS update to resolve this.

In 2020 an OS update caused a similar problem which was eventually resolved after a few months wait by a later OS update.  I'm reluctant to perform a factory reset because it'll wipe my account's hard disk, and may not even gain access to my account again anyway.  I fear only the Google OS updaters can resolve this, since I presume they caused it originally, and they've now stopped all updates.

My Chromebook is a sturdy Acer Chromebook 15, CB5-571

I posted this question to the Acer Community on March 31st, but it vanished so I'm posting again.

I realise one option to regain access to my Chromebook account might be to retrospectively install an earlier Chrome OS update from before March 23rd 2021, but that'll first presumably entail a full Factory Reset or Powerwash that would wipe my personal hard disk, which would destroy my existing personal data, so is not ideal.

Thanks for reading!  I'd be grateful for any advice.
