I was playing a game on my laptop when I started smelling a burnt plastic smell so I immediately turned it off. I didn’t think much but it opened it up and replace the thermal paste on the cpu and gpu. I then turned it back on and about a minute after powering on I noticed smoke and the smell coming out of the fan and before I could power off the laptop it automatically turned off. I then reopened it and opened up the fan and noticed a small pile of dust. I cleaned it out and placed everything back to where it was. After putting everything back in I tried turning on my laptop but nothing happened. I then plugged in the charger but the charger light was also not turning on. What do I do?

Jeez that is not a good sign, as any burning and smoke has 100% damaged your circuitry if not your motherboard prongs which are unfixable and you will need a new motherboard. Don't touch it as you can't fix motherboard circuitry components yourself as they are microscopic! You need specialist electronic technical knowledge a circuit diagram and specialist micro soldering equipment e.g. a microscope, good quality flowing flux, low heat solder, copper wicks and an amp meter and all the circuitry components that have burned out and/or if you can change them and/or fix them? If you don't have this expertise then "DON'T ATTEMPT IT" take it to a technician that can check all components and fix your laptop. If smoke and any burning happens the circuits could be burned onto the motherboard and your motherboard is toast and unrepairable and has to be replaced. Good luck hope it works out and you don't have major damage.

So if the motherboard did get fried then I’ll have to replace, but looking at the replacement one and it was around $500-600 and if I take that to a repair store probably another $100-200. I guess at that point I mind as well probably get a completely new one?
