Aspire-885 HDMI only working with moniter and not television

Hey all! I just bought an Acer TC-885 and I'm having trouble connecting it to my television which was the main reason I bought it. If it's plugged via HDMI to the tv when turned on, the boot screen shows up then the tv quickly loses the signal however when I plug the same HDMI cable (or VGA) into a moniter it works perfectly fine. My tv does not have a VGA port so HDMI is all I have, please help! I updated the video drivers but I'm not sure what to do beyond that.

I have a TC-885-UA91, currently using all three video ports (dual monitors + 4K TV )at the same time. Under different combinations I don't have your problem. To work around, you may try to get a HDMI-VGA adapter cable, but that should not be needed from the beginning.

How old is your HDMI cable?

How about delay turning on the TV a little ? Maybe your TV has very short allowance time that it doesn't receive video signals and will turn off without allowing reconnect automatically.

Thanks for your help! The HDMI cable is a year or so old and seems to work with all my other devices, including the same computer to an Acer monitor so I'm not sure the issue. By delaying, do you mean turning on the computer and waiting for a few minutes before I turn on the tv? I can definitely try that next. Also when the computer is on and I switch off that input/channel on the tv then back onto it, it stays black for a good 20 seconds before stating that there's no input, almost like it's trying to make the connection but can't.

I'm wondering if any other HD  (DVD, etc) device works on your TV'S HDMI input ?
To me, it seems as if your TV HDMI chip or main MPU has been struck by lightning.
I speak from experience as I repaired televisons for 45 years and this was a common occurence, however sometimes it's one port that is defective.

Yes, everything works fine on that port, I currently am using my older laptop with the same cord, port and tv I'm attempting to use with my new desktop.
Also @ttttt, I tried the delay start up and that unfortunately didn't help. Thanks for the attempt!

Yes, I mean wait a few seconds after PC turn on before turning the TV on.

I tend to think @Larryodie's determination may be quite possible.
Most TV has more than one HDMI ports, try another port if you can.

I tried that but to no avail unfortunately. I'm currently using the port/cable in question on the tv with my other computer but I tried the other two ports and another cable just in case and none work with the tv but all work with the monitor.

If you have the TV on with the source set to that HDMI input, so it's saying there is no signal, and you then plug the cord in with the computer up and running, does it find the signal and display it correctly? I'm thinking there might be some timing conflicts when they are both in startup...

Currently everything point to the issue with the TV.
If that's my PC, I'll probably try to get a VGA to HDMI cable just for experimental purpose. However, I won't advise you doing so because if that cable won't solve the problem, it is a waste of money.
