    Hi,
You could use High performance power plan, it will enable Turbo boost, go to Power options(right click battery icon in Taskbar) and select "High Performance" power plan.

By doing this will i be able to get by full processor speed i.e 3.7GHZ??

    Hi,
Yes, when you use the High-Performance plan, the Turbo boost will start and it will run at 3.7GHz whenever a higher CPU is needed.
I am on High Performance plan, my base clock speed is 2.59GHz and system runs at 4GHz.

Why would you want to overclock a laptop for as you need cooling for extra cpu performance. a laptop is not like a desktop where you can adopt water cooling and hydrogen cooling etc etc to overclock as it generates heat in its restrictive enclosure and overheats and crashes! Your Ryzen 5 3550H 3.7/2.1GHz has enough performance as it is, if you wanted more performance then you should have bought the Aspire 7 Ryzen 7 3750H -  4.0/2.3GHz, if you overclock your Ryzen 5 3550H 3.7/2.1GHz the cpu need to be cooled further as it will crash, you cant get anything like the Ryzen 7 3750 at 4.0/2.3GHz performance out of your Ryzen 5 3550H at 3.7/2.1GHz . Stay stock and just do what brummyfan2 is advising you to do and have the "Power Option at High Performance" as that will keep your laptop at top performance and it won't make it overheat and/or crash.

The OEM fans (see below) can only generate a certain amount of cooling air to cool the cpu, so if you overclock? The cpu will run hotter and your fans wont be able to cool the cpu appropriately so whatever you do to overclock and you don't cool the cpu appropriately can cause damage and shorten the life of the cpu and/or your system will turn OFF automatically at 98c temperatures as that is the max temp that your system is set for and is allowed to reach.
