Fixed A515-51-563W -- *SLOW* after windows reset and bios upgrade

The short version: I uninstalled all the Acer pre-installed programs (and Norton).

I just got this reburbed laptop and wanted to get it as clean as possible so after getting Windows updates, I did a Reset from cloud wiping everything. Then I updated the bios to latest version(2.02?). Now when it came up it was awful slow and near unusable. I thought I bricked it! I did some research and found a page called "How to perform a clean boot in Windows" on support.windows.com. Basically it tells you how boot with minimum services running. Thankfully it came up nicely. I mean it's a slow HDD but at least it wasn't pegged to 100% Disk. I then uninstalled all the Acer programs that started themselves up, plus uninstalled Norton, and changed my boot up options back to normal.

Acceptable for now. My next major step is to the replace the HDD with an SSD. Hope this helps someone.

    Likely you could have just done the antivirus and left the rest...

    @Eflat,

     The biggest enemies for PC performance are:

    1) Still using mechanical HDD
    2) Using an anti-virus software program, everything filtered through it
    3) Not enough memory, with the RAM close to 100% usage
