A515-52-368R powers on but unresponsive, looking for suggestions

    I just realized I never sent this reply -- sorry!

    Still no luck after letting it run with the fan going full speed for over an hour each time. Not sure when I'll have a chance to find a BIOS chip and soldering equipment, but if & when I do I'll update here. Definitely not in the next week or so.

    Anyway, thanks again for all your help. While my problem isn't resolved, I definitely wouldn't have been able to narrow it down like this on my own.

    Preprogrammed BIOS chips are available on ebay. Just google the keywords a515-52 bios ebay for vendors. The chip is a surface mount, usually with only 8 solder surface pads to deal with. It's probably the easiest type of solder chip replacement on a mainboard. A local shop could probably do the job in less than an hour if you had the chip. Jack E/NJ
