I got a 100 Mbps fiber connection 2 days ago.

It came with a proprietary modem+router thing (does have a control panel I can access using 192.168.10.1)

It works flawlessly on all devices however I have a speed issue on my laptop

On every other device in my home (phones smart tv's etc) the speed on both download and upload is 120 Mbps (tested on speedtest.net, fast.com, and google speed test)

However on my 2 laptops with the same Qualcomm Atheros QCA61x4A wifi card (one being the predator helios 300) the speed is a maximum of 40 Mbps it feels like it being artificially capped or something bcoz it never goes above that.

I have tried-
1) Resetting everything network-related on both laptops (https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/internet-download-speed-is-slow-on-only-one-device/65528449-efc9-4582-8d70-4220b43e0a6c)

2) Changing the wireless mode on both laptops (https://community.acer.com/en/discussion/comment/550011)

3) Perform a clean boot on one laptop (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/929135/how-to-perform-a-clean-boot-in-windows)

And the most infuriating part is that when I dual booted Ubuntu on my laptop for an unrelated reason, I found out that my laptop is now getting the full 100 Mbps on speedtest.net and while downloading something from google drive.

However, nothing seems to work on windows at all and I am still getting 40 Mbps on any speedtesting site or even while downloading something

Heck my local file transfer between laptops using shared folders is also somehow even lower at just 16-17 Mbps

and the weird thing is when I tether my phone to my laptop using a USB cable and turn on the wifi on the phone, I am now getting 100 Mbps on the laptop!

Any solutions?

Did you try to update that wireless card driver?

Check if the wifi is connected to either 2.4GHZ or 5 GHZ
