ive had the acer nitro 5 ryzen model and tbh it was rather horrible so but when i got a new one of august of 2020 it worked fantastically a huge improvement loved it but all of a sudden 2 months ago every game i play the fps is so choppy sometimes a frame is so slow it freezes its even worse then the ryzen model, ive had it for a year now i was thinking i may need thermal paste but isnt a year too early? anyways everything is low and some games i dont even run in 1080p anymore its really starting to annoy me it seems to not matter what temperature my computer is
ill give some information of events i remember to pin point and fix this
-i got a ps4 its plugged in the same extension cord as my pc
- updated graphics card driver i down graded multiple levels and gone back to up to date no fix
-ive started using discord more i have turned off the overlay its caused crashing in wicther 3
-my cpu fans been running 244 rpm and makes noises while the gpu is 6122 rpm but its been like this for some time and its been perfectly fine till recently and my computer keeps fine temperatures
-i have tried unscrewing my fan and heat sink but gave up and put everything back
-i emulated demon souls and the whole situation reminds me of the emulation performance when set at 1 spu thread but when set to 6 it works just fine its like that but on a bigger scale of my whole computer

Did you take the heatsink out? If yes, you might have to replace thermal paste.

i believe i unscrewed one screw but couldnt get the others to move so gave up and just cleaned the computer lightly, afterwards i heard that theres a set order that you unscrew the heat sink, with this information should i replace the thermal paste?

Since you only have taken one screw out, you don't need to replace it. You can try update Windows or BIOS.

You can open nitro sense and keep it runs in the backgrounds when playing games. Check the temps, if either CPU or GPU has above 95C. You can consider replace thermal paste.

ah ah i have been keeping track of temps and the cpu has actually usually at 90C while gpu is at 75-80C looking at my nitro sense, as mentioned in the post my gpu fans run at 6122 while cpu fans are go between 222 rpm 600 rpm and the 6000 rpm but its been like that way before ive gotten these really bad performance which confuses me

So your CPU fan only runs at 600 rpm, not 6000 rpm?

yes despite it being at max fan mode

Okay, so try to install MSI Afterburner and monitor both CPU and GPU clocks. GTX 1650's clock while play game is usually at >1800MHZ.

sounds like thermal throttling... 600 rpm for fan is way too low at MAX and 90c with spikes too 100 C will cause the issues you descibe. replacement is not too hard ( if it turns out its a hardware issue). Also repaste with thermal grizzly kryonaut and use laptop cooler!

mmm mmm that sounds about right but what i find weird is my cpu fan speeds been like this for a while and ive had perfectly fine performance so i ruled it out but ill do replacement anyways

For the fan, you can replace only the CPU fan since the GPU fan works fine. It is held by small Philips head screws.

Best fans would be OEM Acer fans for your model, just contact them and get it delivered.
Also Get a laptop cooler and youll see 4C off max temps with no climbing temps.
and don't do a pea or grain of rice either, do a line on cpu and x on gpu. watch gamer nexus video re thermal paste. pretty much you cant apply too much paste as when you screw the heat sink down any excess paste will get pushed out sides and totally cover the die (ideal otherwise you get hotspots on the die from different temp cores) common sense says a grain a rice wont work!
Also watch meanpoohs videos on repasting nitro 5, helps a lot.
