I have an acer aspire a315-23 laptop (Ryzen 5 3500u - 8 GB ram - 256 GB SSD). When examined with the cpu-z program, 2 empty slots appear and no ram spd information.this computer has 8gb soldered ram? Is the upgrade slot a single slot or a double slot? If it is a single slot, can it be increased to 24 gb ram capacity by installing a 16 gb capacity module?

I solved the situation, disassembled the device and looked and there is 8 GB of ram soldered and one ram slot on the motherboard. I installed another 8 gb of ram and it was 16 gb. Acer Aspire 3 A315-23 with model number N18Q13 has 8 GB of soldered ram, it can increase up to a maximum of 40 GB of RAM. You have 16 gb, 24 gb and 40 gb upgrade options.

    Hi,
Could you please post the pictures of Memory tab and SPD tab in  CPU-z, I think you have 4GB onboard memory+4GB removable RAM but if you have 8GB soldered RAM, you can upgrade up to 16GB by inserting another 8GB, I couldn't find anyone installed a 16GB module in this model.

Prodigy81, your Aspire 3-A315-23-N18Q13 does not have 8GB soldered onto the mobo, that is impossible and not correct! It has a "Dual-channel DDR4 SDRAM support, with 4 GB of onboard DDR4 system memory and can take Up to a max of 12 GB of DDR4 system memory total e.g. it has 4GB soldered onboard + 1x slot that takes up to a max of 8GB DDR4 type memory of either DDR4-2400MHz or DDR4-2666Mhz or DDR4-3200MHz into its 1x slot (see caption below) as your A315-23 has only 1x slot for removable memory. Whee did you get "8 GB of soldered ram, it can increase up to a maximum of 40 GB of RAM" from?

This is the official Acer Service Manual's specs and captions of the mobo and what memory speed/timing that the
Aspire 3-A315-23 can take with its AMD Ryzen 5 and 3 or the Atom 3020e or the Athlon Silver 3050U processors:

do i need to lie ? I disassembled the device and while the device had 8 gb ram, one ram slot was empty, I inserted 8 gb ram there and it was 16 gb. I'll take a screenshot soon, I need to install a 12 gb module with your logic to make it 16 gb, right? Do you have a 12 gb module?

    Hi,
I think you can install a maximum of 8GB with the 4GB onboard memory to make a maximum total  memory of 12GB, if you have a 8GB onboard memory you can increase the memory with another 8GB, any amount of memory above that you manage to install will be a bonus.

Thanks for the pictures but it's what I said, if you have 8GB onboard memory, you can add another 8GB to make a total of 16GB  =)

I gave that answer for stevengen, I have a friend who runs it with a 16gb module and makes 24gb, tried it with a 32gb module and the system worked but occasionally freezes. So he continued to use it as 24 GB. I said you have the option to install and the system works, it is necessary to try in detail whether it works stably, otherwise I do not claim extra.

where is stevengen ? only 4 gb soldered ram !
