Hello,

I have a problem since around half past 1 year about my linux (Debian 10) installation. My windows installation works perfectly with the IGPU and the dedicated GPU, but with linux, i can't have a second screen from HDMI connector (which seems to be connected to the dedicated GPU only).
Is there any way to disable IGPU from bios, or maybe a configuration for linux to use only one of two gpu (it doesn't matter which one because linux is only for development) or other thing i don't know.

My PC model is Acer Aspire A717-72G-579U.

Thanks for your help.  :)

Yes, some kernel distributions have had issues with discrete nvidia chips. It's mainly a generic nvidia issue, not speficic to ACER, Dell, Asus, HP, etc.  There have been fixes reported for some distributions like Mint which is based on both Ubuntu and Debian. If you haven't already, I suggest that you register on this Debian users forum and post your issue.

So this is a kernel problem and not an hardware or something else. I'll try to ask it on debian forum and i'll try Mint, maybe I could be ok with this distro. Tanks for your reply

Another possible quick shot in the dark wasn't mentioned earlier. Press Ctrl+S in the BIOS Main & Advanced tabs to see if any worthwhile hidden options appear. Jack E/NJ
