Chrome won't open where I left off Acer Spin 311

Startup setting is set to Continue where I left off but next time I start Chrome all the tabs are gone.  Pinned and grouped tabs also disappear.

Is this normal behaviour of Chrome on Acer Spin 311 or can something be done about it?

Theres two hacky ways to get it to work, either force quit out of chrome when you exit, and then it will give you the option to restore tabs. Or when you open chrome hit ctrl+Shift+t and it should bring all the previous tabs back. I dont think there is a workig way to just have it do it im afraid :(

I can't believe Google have left such a glaring hole in the preinstalled Chrome on a Chromebook.  Makes them difficult to use.

Using Ctrl+Shift+t does not work on my Chromebook, it opens Chromebook Settings, not restore previous tabs, at least on my device.  On my windows pc it does open previous tabs one at a time.

There does not seem to be any way of uninstalling and reinstalling Chrome either.  Chromebooks are not to be recommended.

its one of the annoying things about chromebooks, they have so many annoying niggles. Does the T shortcut work if you close one tab and leave chrome open? Its meant to be there on chrome os (https://support.google.com/chromebook/answer/183101?hl=en-GB )

Yes the T shortcut does work if I close a tab.  I guess the only way to preserve all the tabs is to never shut down Chrome.

Like you say, too many annoying niggles, think I'll stick to Windows.

Jeese google seems to mess it up on purpose then! The reason i asked was if it didnt work it may have been a problem with the browser install, but if it is it doesnt seem like it :(

Im not 100% sure if its available (I would assume they are as you can on android), but you could try either chrome canary, or installing another browser such as edge or firefox to see if they can keep tab states

Another huge annoyance is the Chrome OS keyboard.  It pops up as it should do when in tablet mode but it also when in laptop mode.  If I disable it in Keyboard and Text Input it does not pop up in either mode.  So how do I type something in tablet mode?

I have installed Gboard (which i prefer to the built in one) and enabled it and it works as above.  But it disappears from Input methods the next time I login and the option to add it in is also not there.
