recently i bought a new 1TB SSD drive for my Acer Nitro 5 gaming laptop, and there is currently nothing on the drive, it is completely empty. is it normal for the "No Bootable Device" error to come up when windows is NOT installed? just making sure its not another issue besides the SSD. thanks

Yes, it is normal as the UEFI looks for a boot manager(or to be more specific UEFI(BIOS) looks for /EFI partition where usually the boot loaders are stored)  and can`t find it, so it displays "No Bootable Device"
