Hi everyone
I'm configuring this small laptop for a friend who doesn't have lots of money. It is using Windows 8.1 and I installed all the patches and updates available. On the Acer site for this laptop,
https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/support-product/4666?b=1&pn=NX.M83AA.004&sn=31902723976there is a firmware update for the HDD (WD 3200BPVT-22JJ5T0) to apparently increase hard disk performance.
I downloaded this update and when I try to run wdi_9545.exe from it, it gives me an error that there is no qualified drive.
I try using the Western Distal Dashboard and it does see and test the drive perfectly but does not offer me the option to upgrade the firmware neither tell me which firware version it is running. I searched the web but can't seem to find an adequate answer.
What can I "safely" do? I don't want to ruin my friend's laptop with a firmware update that does not go well!
Thanks
