Is there a way to add ~ to letters (e.g. ã ) in an Acer Chromebook 314 Spanish Qwerty keyboard?

I have tried alt gr + 4 but it only writes ~ as a symbol and does not let me do the tone on the a. I have also tried changing the keyboard language but to no avail (and only spanish language works as the others mess up the key locations). Of course copy+pasting or adding symbol ã in google docs (but not gmail) works but that is very far from ideal. If somone can help it would be highly appreciated

I don't see a shortcut for ã specifically, other than the Alt-0027 sequence, but most of the Spanish characters are available on the Spanish Chromebook keyboard. Try here for some suggestions.

Thanks, I didn't get to answer this. The numlock shortcuts are helpful but not a good solution as Portuguese use ã all the time (Spanish do not have it and hence the problem). The solution was going to an IT store and reconfiguring the keyboard and exchanging the ñ key for ã (we don't use ñ). Very cheap if anyone has the same problem.

Yes, the only real clean solution is to have a Portuguese keyboard instead of Spanish... My guess is the technician just set the keyboard into Portuguese mode, so the keypress works, but doesn't match what's is printed on the key itself.
