Triton 500 pt515-51 charging issues.

Here is the deal. I've had this triton 500 for over a year now purchased last January. I had this fault late last year and sent the device in for repair. It took 3 months to repair but they ended up changing the main board due to a fault. The fault itself is the AC adapter begins to randomly disconnect. When it is connected charging is fine. The disconnections in time happens more frequently up to a point where its a real struggle to find an angle at which the ac adapter will successfully connect.

As you can guess even after a mother board change 3 weeks after receiving my unit the same issue is happening again. The charging port when plugged in and charging gets extremely hot. So I'm pretty sure this heat is damaging the port and causing the main board to short. Quite evident this was the issue first time round and now has creeped back. I'm out of warranty so can only guess the repair costs. When I first sent in the device I did let Acer know that the device was unusually hot. My GPU for example I've seen hit 92 degrees C. Yes the laptop is designed to handle it but it's pretty clear somethings wrong with my unit. So even if I change the motherboard myself or send it in for repair I'm going to get the same problem most likely.

So what does one do with a £2000 device that's barely a year old and likes to kill itself? I've wrote to Acer but no reply. I would like to know what options I have here.

    Hi cpt_hanzo88,

I am very sorry to hear that you're experiencing this with your Acer unit and warranty/repair process, can you please send me a private message with the serial number of your unit or Case ID number that was used to send the unit for repair last time, so i can go ahead and escalate it to our customer advocate agents for follow up, as i am unable to assist you with any claims, support issues as the Acer community is a peer to peer support only and i am just a Moderator, our job its to maintain the community forums itself, we do not have the tools for any support services or accounts follow-ups.

    Thanks in advance,
    Acer-Manny
