Same problem here. Acer aspire lan adapter vanishes from pc. When installing lan_realtek from official site, the installing program notices the driver is already installed, so I choose repair. But then it says "realtek adapter not found" "if deep sleep mode is enabled Please plug in the cable". But cable is plugged, even replugged but no result. Cable works like a charm in my Nitro so it must be the adpire. Anti virus turned off, still no result. At one point repeating repairing install worked and problem was solved. But it returned after a few days.

Some of the above options possibly in combination with next helped getting realtek lan work again. Hard power off. Detach lan cable. Re-enter lan and power on. When lan works again, go to "control panel" "network adapters" realtek, properties, energy turn of "computer may turn off this device to save energy. To be sure a also did this with the wireless network adapter.
