Problems updating Bios to 1.09 in Spin 5 513-54N

My Spin 5 is at 1.0 for the BIOS. There are several updates on the support site. I downloaded 1.09 and attempted to install but have received Insyde ESP Disk Space Not Enough.  Under Device Manager is shows 1.09 with the yellow triangle.  I did a cold boot and tried to run as administrator and get an Insyde H20FFT error code 14. Do I have to run the gamut and do 1.02, 1.03...1.09 or is there something wrong? I am on W10x64Pro v200420H2 Mar 2021 update. I am having a problem that sometimes I can boot my Fedora Linux USB drive (UEFI) and sometimes not.  It is random. When it works I see system as the last option for grub.  When it fails it does not show system as an option. It works flawlessly when it does boot. I am hoping one of the BIOS fixes will resolve that. Has anyone else experienced this and remedied it? The ACC Care doesn't do anything. Thx.

I found the answer. Open the Command Prompt as administrator. Run mountvol y: /s to mount the EFI partition. Navigate to /efi/microsoft/boot/fonts and delete all the fonts Microsoft leaves behind. Reboot and run the BIOS update. Voila! Insyde needed more space to decompress the BIOS update and run it. I ran the 1.09 and we are back in business. Now to check the bootable Fedora USB drive.

I have already rebuilt the grub EFI but no changes.  It appears the BIOS doesn't appear to recognize external UEFI drives periodically.

You shouldn't have to install any older versions in order to install the latest. I don't see anything listed though that addresses your boot issues. Most of the fixes have been security updates. How big of a Windows partition do you have and how much free space does it have? I haven't seen the Disk space not enough error from an Insyde BIOS before.

As you can see I have plenty of space available. I have full Acronis backups so I can do anything I need to. I just don't want to brick the PC as it's great for my travels.  Wifi6 is especially nice as I get 750Mbps to my router.

I did see some of the previous BIOS updates affect the EFI partition.  Don't know if that has any bearing on 1.09.

The deletion of the Microsoft fonts, installation of BIOS 1.09 fixed the boot with Linux USB drive problem. I have rebooted many times and it always works.  I can now have both Linux and Windows separate drives.

That makes perfect sense and the next step I was going to suggest was to use Disk Management to look at the partitions. The EFI partition itself is what the updates that Microsoft pushes are for, not for the BIOS flash itself.
