Hello! I cannot adjust my brightness using the F3 and F4 keys anymore, for a while now. I can adjust the brightness itself via the action center or via settings, but not using those keys. The other Fn keys work as they should.
I've tried suggested fixes like updating drivers and stuff like that, hasn't helped.

Can anyone help out? Would be much obliged! It's not a dealbreaking issue, but its quite nice to be able to use the keys..

Ok, we can try performing a system refresh. You can go to settings > update and security > recovery and then reset. Now please select option as keep my files.. This would not harm your data but allows us to fix any software related issues..

Before trying the above mentioned steps, i would recommend you to check for any windows updates and update the OS.

    Try Fn + F3 or F4

If it does not work then uninstall display adapters from device manager (Do Not delete it) Once done, restart the unit and check if it works. Also, try BIOS defaults.

While booting press F2, once you are in BIOS then press F9 and enter, F10 and enter.

Hey Rudy, thank you for your quick reply! Unfortunately, none of your suggestions resolved the problem. Any other ideas?

Try uninstalling the keyboard drivers from device manager and restart the device.

Once done please check if these keys are working.. if its not then we can call it to be issue with Keyboard. I would suggest you to contact acer support for warranty help.

Hey Rudy, unfortunately, that didn't help either. However, the issue is with the software, and not with keyboard since the keys themselves have functionality. For example, when i am in Windows explorer, i can press Fn+F4 to open the adress bar.

Thank you for sharing more information to the issue..

you have mentioned that all other hot keys work but not the brightness. Can you let us know what is the keyboard language selected. Also, try Fn + left or Right Navigation buttons and check..

Yes, so for example, pressing F5 gives screen duplication options, pressing Fn+F5 reloads a webpage. Pressing F11 increases volume, pressing Fn+F11 gives full screen. And Fn+F4 gives web adress in explorer, but F4 alone does not increase screen brightness as it should. I have selected standard US keyboard, in Dutch. Fn+left and right arrow keys does nothing, those keys have no other functionality on my laptop.

May i know when was the last time these keys worked

Try creating another account and check if these keys are working.. Just to check if it has to do with some policies or registry errors..

The last time they worked was already several months ago, maybe half a year. I just accepted the problem at first, but it is still weird so only now i decided to ask you guys. I will try the second account.

Another suggestion is to uninstall the display adapters and restart the unit.. I would suggest you try this before system refresh

I already initiated the refresh, it's a bit of a hassle because you need to reinstall programs and all that, but the good news is that it worked! I can finally adjust my brightness again! Of course now we still don't really know what the cause was, but at least the functionality is back, so i'm happy. Thanks for your time, Rudy!
