Brand new laptop will not read USB sd card readers? nitro 5

I bought a brand new nitro 5 gaming laptop as a new toy two days ago. I swapped some stuff from another laptop and used an insignia USB sd card reader so I could also transfer files to a SD card. Everything was fine.

Today I go to use the same insignia dongle in my laptop and it will not read. I can look at the partition when I go to format it but when I open my computer the adapter doesn't exist. I've tried upgrading drivers, deleting the software and reinstalling it but nothing works.

The adapter works on any other laptop but this new one suddenly stopped the day after. Did I buy a laptop with bum USB ports?

are any other USB devices working on the same USB ports.. if yes then its not an issue with the USB port.

I would suggest you check and update windows OS and post that uninstall the USB sd card reader drivers and disconnect the USB device.

Post this, restart the unit and try BIOS defaults. While booting press F2 and once you are in BIOS then press F9 and enter to set BIOS to defaults
Now to save and exit press F10 and enter.

Re-connect the USB sd card reader and Now check if the USB is working

I appreciate the reply, but if I'm being quite real, there were no updates as that was the first thing I did. The second was checking all of my drivers. In the end? Nothing worked with the usb ports so I returned it.

Got a new one, no issues.
