What is adequate thermal paste if the stock thermal paste was this much?

Ever since first opening this laptop, I regret everything and no not because cleaning or thermal pasting is difficult but because I am not sure what is proper, you see people say to apply a little thermal paste, some say like a small grain of rice, others say a thin long line etc. How ever, opening this laptop for the first time what really stood out to me was how much thermal paste it had from stock and how it was applied. I have only put half of this to be generous my self and I am wondering if I am not doing my laptop any good, I do have thermal issues but who doesn't with the intel chips, how ever I may have noticed increased thermal issues ever since applying less amount of thermal paste than the laptop came with. I have also played around with optimizing windows and use TS to manage temps, the only thing that seems to help is locking core speeds at 3.5 other than that lowering volts doesn't do [Content Removed] and just keeps me at 94-91 (please save the intel chips are designed to bla bla) What are your suggestions about the thermals and the thermal paste amount? also what do you think these pink thermal pastes are
