Aspire 5 A515-51-86AQ lefthand hinge broken and front of LED screen holder peeling off

Hi All,

I recently noticed an issue with the leftside hinge of my Aspire 5 A515-51-86AQ laptop becoming a little loose via normal wear and tear. This problem rapidly progressed to the point when I can no longer close my laptop without the front of the LED holder frame peeling and I am worried the screen may become damaged if I try to close it. Unfortunately, this computer is a few months past the expiration of its warranty. I've read on different forums that others have had similar issues occurring just after their warranty expires.

Since this laptop is no longer under warranty am I completely out of luck and going to have to shell out hundreds to get this fixed or does anyone know of an easier solution? Guess I should have read up on the hinges of these laptops being notoriously fragile before buying or at least gotten a longer warranty.

Contact the acer if there is any exception on warranty as its just oow. since its not under the warranty get the part number and check it with local tech or acer part partners for the outer case and change the outer case.

Thank you. Unfortunately, they aren't willing to help much since it is no longer under warranty. Will most likely have to go to a third party repair shop. Last time I ever buy an Acer laptop that's for sure.
