Hi,

I have an Acer Swift sf314-52-584r laptop and have got 1 monitor connected via HDMI.
I would like to set up another monitor but I am not able to figure out how to do it.
I am looking for these screens to be extended (not duplicated).
Could anyone help me with this please?

Sure, your SF314-52 has a USB-C port, but it's gen 1 so doesn't have DP over USB or HDMI over USB. That means to put a monitor on it requires one of the USB docks with video out. There are plenty to choose from and I would use either the USB-C or the USB 3.0 port. Don't bother getting one of the more expansive ones that is supposed to charge your laptop at the same time because you will continue to the use your normal charger. You can usually put one, two or three more monitors on using a dock, though none of them will be fast enough for gaming.

    Hi,
    Thank you for your response.
I'm not 100% sure if I understand it.
Does this mean I can connect my current monitor to the HDMI port, but for the other one I can use a docking station/adapter?

This adapter, would this be a USB-C to HDMI adapter? Would something like this work: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Adapter-Thunderbolt-Compatible-MacBook-Samsung-Black/dp/B07TD515P2

Then in this way I can have 2 monitors extended (not mirrored)?

Ot wouldn't, you need a display link adapter :) generally if the listing has display link, or it says it will need drivers it will work, they also keep an official list available online at

    www.displaylink.com/products/find?cat=3&maxd=1

I see, thank you! So these 2 would work?

    They are quite expensive  :'(

They should yup 👍, And afriad they are :( there are cheaper knock off's but they are sketchy, and usualy do things like ask you to isntall random unsigned drivers which is always a bad idea

Yes, those latter two should both work.
