Laptop intermittently not charging when plugged in -- Acer E5-576G-5762

Hi,

My laptop was purchased new in either November 2016 or 2017, so I'm aware that the warranty is likely out of date. Everything on the laptop (including the charger) is still original.

As stated in the title, when my laptop is plugged in it only charges intermittently. This has been occurring for ~1 month. If I can find a position for the charging cable that works, the laptop will continue charging indefinitely as long as I don't move the laptop or cable. While there is a certain position for the cable that is more likely to work, that isn't always the case.

It does seem like the charging cord is slightly loose in the port, and there seem to be certain directions that I can spin the cable in the port to have a greater chance of success. This leads me to believe that the port itself is in need of repair/replacement.

Please let me know if this is a known issue, or if anyone has any suggestions. I tried searching for others with the same problem, but haven't found anything yet.

If this is due to a faulty charging port, is that something I can replace myself? If it requires soldering, I do not have the required experience or tools. If this is something I can do myself, does anyone know the part number for the charging port and where I can order a replacement?

Thank you!
