Seven R5-471t laptops with same problem

In our current Covid world, I am one of the technical resources for a charity that is refurbishing computers for donation to children to allow them to do their homework and to vulnerable adults to allow them to stay in touch with friends and family.  We have been given 7 Aspire R5-471t laptops and all of them show a flashing orange charge light and will not charge.  The power packs are standard for the machines and are of the correct volt and amp output

Things I have tried so far:

1. Replaced the polymer battery.  Left the machines charging overnight
2. Power reset.  Both using the buil-in reset button and a standard power reset by disconnecting the battery and holding down the power switch
3. Updated BIOS
4. In desperation, unplugged the CMOS battery, even though this was not likely to solve the issue

So far, no success

Do any of you experts out there have any more suggestions for me to try?

Did you try reinstalling the battery drivers in device manager. ? go to device manager and uninstall battery drivers and restart the unit.

Apologies, I should have added that to the list of things I tried - no effect.  The charger light is flashing before the machine is powered up

That flashing light typically means the battery is thought to be toast. Are you sure the charger is good? When you tried a replacement battery, was it one designed for the laptop or a different one? The battery reset should have worked if the battery were good but giving corrupted data to the system.

Codes on the replacement batteries are the same as the original

I have tried all 7 chargers and even run my multi-meter over them - correct power output from each of them.  We might be able to donate the machines to a school for teacher use in the classroom - i.e. permanently connected to the mains.  Otherwise, I am not sure what we can do with them
